10th Anniversary.

At the beginning of December it shall be 10 years since I started writing this blog.

I set it up to basically have an output, online and act as an archive to things that I would have forgotten about over the years. Stuff like British Cable TV, Polish cartoons, Hardy Boys detective novels.  A love for the PSP and PS Vita consoles, and some Rom hacks that I've played and liked.

I have at times written reaction pieces to bad reporting on cacti and have received at least 1 comment that wasn't spam over the years.

Looking at my earliest posts I really wanted it to be called Lobster Egg, in part derived from Roger Irrelavent in the Viz and essentially Davey Jones strips which speaks to my level of stupid. But it turned out that the name was taken by a food blog, which was a bummer.

I still don't know 100% where Tibbet, as in my name for a cat, came from. Pretty sure its Mrs. Kitten from the classic Smoke and Fluff but of course intensely corrupted. See also Mrs Nibble / Mrs Cobble from Blackberry Farm tales for the rabbit equivalent.

It also seemed that I was a bit haphazard in my posting, putting pages up rather than every Sunday, like I do now.

I was a proper hammer on feminism then, which would take Darkness Savior on Tumblr of all places to turn me on to the whole MRA / Skeptic community. I still like the news critic stuff like Tim Pool, Short Fat Otaku, Vee, The Britisher and even Sargon and Thunderf00t when they're not too cringy.

I added a twatter profile some two years ago and its brought me daily dogs, cats, game knowledge and left wing cunts galore to laugh at.

Its bittersweet to look back at how the time has gone and that, and for once decided to do what every other cunt does when it advances in years. Adds a shitty retrospective post.

An AFX Advert.

Or rather c'mon you cunts lets 'ave an AFX advert.

I first heard about this, from my Twitter timeline, a photo of the Aphex Twin logo on a wall and someone saying this is at the Elephant and Castle (our closest tube back in the day, put this down to living in the South East).  My ears perked up at this and we decided to go down that way and take a detour and find it.

It is indeed at the Elephant and Castle tube station, more specifically if you want to find it or just happen across this post 6 years from now. its located just outside the middle exit to the south bound branch of the Northern Line, as you come in or indeed, go out.  Took me ages to find, even though its not small, exited at the far entrance and looked along the Bakerloo station  before doubling back and finding it at the last.

Northern Line
Of course what I found out, is that there were two posters exactly opposite each other.  I could bark up the wrong tree here about mirror magic and getting caught between two images.  Think Granny Weatherwax from Witches Abroad and such, but if I'm honest I don't know what it all means.
this is the opposite side of the wall.
As far as I can tell I have no idea what this is all in aid off. It could be like last years live show at field day complete with Fingers Inc intro.  Or  more likely a new album along the lines of Syro or Cheetah.  I will of course update you when I know more.

Oh and when I got off at Morden this shit was going down.  Cue lots of 20 something ladies in not very much (it was baking out) and blokes in their best tees and beards (Seriously would have killed for the I love techno shirt).  On our way home from Sutton we saw this stretch jeep limousine thing outside a church and thought of Windowlicker.  So will leave you with that image here.

Lemme put mah shit on.
EDIT its for a new EP coming out in September and its sounds fucking lush.

Holiday 16: Fiesta de Santa Tecla and Mulassa

You'll be pleased to know that this is the end of my holiday round up, but I have left the best till last. This last trip is probably better explained by someone into mystery beasts like the excellent Karl Shuker, but on one of our trips to Tarragona we found round by the Cathedral steps, were people setting up for some sort of parade.

There were two giants (Gegantes Catalan or Gigantes in Spanish) a man and a woman in medieval dress.
Los Gigantes
Also a mule known in the Catalan bestiary as Mulassa (bottom Photo).
Donkey one.
Mulassa with band.

The strangely priapic Castell.
Mulassa sort of operates like a panto horse with a person in the front as the head end and another person at the back providing the back legs so to speak.  I have seen Youtube clips of it dancing around in a circle to music but when we saw it, it had to move out the way of a truck so it could pass which was quite funny in itself.   The main obstacle to what was going on is that there is precious little in a language I can understand, its Catalan folklore and as they seem to be fiercely protective of  their language and customs, nothing is bilingual not even in regular Spanish, which I can at least have a fighting chance at.  Its maybe part of the Santa Tecla Festival (St Thecla?), or it may not, I would welcome some comments as to what its all about. What I do know is that this was on behalf of a sick kid in hospital and they sold shirts for 5 Euro.  They had an inflatable human tower and a band playing music which was quite nice.  We sat for a good half hour watching them set up and play a few songs and stuff before moving on.  It was an unexpected find on a good day out.
