Marvel(lous) Round Up

Recently subbed to out of context Beavis and Butt-head, on Twatter and found out that the comics I had as a teen were released by Marvel.

To be fair my comics stuff in the 90's was limited to the Beano, the Dandy and latter X-Files magazine.  I really didn't get much into comics and stuff as I was far more interested in gaming as a whole than reading about Spiderman and the X-Men.

True, I know who most of them were but its more in the context of what game they were from rather than what comic they debuted in. FYI Marvel VS Capcom series is the best MCU film never created.

Anyway the comics themselves weren't bad, if a little off from the show itself.  I still have my vote Cornholio window sticker, and I have a sneaking suspicion that some of these were bootsale finds.

Anyway here are some front cover scans from the UK edition.
And that's yer lot.
Also on a nineties vibe here, as well, is a documentary about the notorious Snes game Hong Kong 97 just in case you want to kill 1.2 billion fuckin' ugly reds.

Here comes a very special guy.

What I spectacularly failed to tell you about last weeks post is that I got on the bus home to find a friend of my was the driver.

We keep in touch via facebook and have written letters before but we hadn't met face to face for a good 18 months and that was briefly.  So its a good thing he contacted me on facebook to say that it was his wife's birthday and that there would be a party at his place and would I like to come.

I gave it a few minutes to mull over I didn't know the place where he was living, and after googling it came back as a few streets away (I had an old address of his in Bexleyheath) so when a man says jack... you jack.

It was pretty cool too, he has a cool cat that consistently tried to snag chicken from the table and a lot of kids there, mainly his.  His eldest had been to Tossa De Mar the same as me and I wished I could have asked him where he stayed (he went with the scouts) but mainly I remember it for him playing acoustic guitar and singing some odd blues songs with another guy.

We got talking about the good old days and of people, of Beavis and Butthead, (we were fans and used to do the voices all the time back then).  All in all a good time, as they say online 11/10 would definitely go again.

A bit about MTV.

Oh joy of joys, not only is FDS Monty Mole finally getting a translation, (thanks Pennywise) but they're bringing Beavis and Butthead back.

I'll say that again they're finally making more proper shows on MTV and not relying on shit like they have done the last 10 years.  Beavis and Butthead were fucking awesome simply for the fact that they were not only the class idiots but because they were sharply observed class idiots.  They're the slackers slacker, whether rooting down the couch for stuff to go couch fishing with, panhandling with Z from Police Academy (he played a Harold Ramp in the episode of the same name) and of course Cornholio Beavis's alter ego emerging in times of extreme crisis (read sugar rush) chatting about his bunghole and TP the best thing ever.

Finally its the best things that are largely absent from the video compilations and DVDs put out, Music Videos and B'N'Bs stock demolition of each and every one of them.   Edie Bricknell Pinching a Loaf, to wanting to pee on Blur (and apart from the sublime Monkey soundtrack who wouldn't) their put downs rocked.
A raver like me getting into weird metal stuff like Suicidal Tendancies and Danzig (hey Mother does rock even if I still hate guitar stuff with a vengance).  They sometimes played other weird stuff too like MC 900ft Jesus with Beavis singing throughout much to Buttheads annoyance.

I can sort of remember B'N'Bs church song, Beavis yelling fire at things oh and Butthead being summoned out of the crapper by Beavis because there was bare ass on TV (and him to repeat the trick because there was a dog with a surgical brace round its neck thus earning him a dig to the nads).

Though I like King of the Hill, and am pretty sure Hanks a relative to Tom Anderson, its great to see Beavis and Butthead return.  May the new episodes rock as hard as the older ones.  I said hard Heh Heh.

Oh and they'll be more on MTV mainly Partyzone stuff and the birth of the career of Davina Mc Call for all the good its done mankind.

Watashi mo Konhorio!

Apologies for the bad Japanese intro. If you didn't get it, thats Cornholio's signature line given in this.
Beavis and Butthead Virtual Stupidity Or Beavis & Butthead Virtual Aho Shoukougun as it was known in Japan is probably the most baffling western release I've come across released in the land of the rising sun. Now I love Beavis and Butthead as much as the next guy, but man, is that an obscure license or what. Incredibly from the video above it seems to be fully dubbed in Japanese,
i'd have loved to have sat in on that Voice acting session, maybe it did well on PC for it to find an audience.

In fact its almost as baffling as say a review of Commodore's Amiga 1200 in Japan. Commodore probably fucked up their marketing there as well.

The third license I've also seen is, Peanuts, but everybody loves Charlie Brown and Snoopy so that doesn't count.
